Ascot’s range of single skin and twin skin (insulated core) Fire Roller Shutters cover a vast range of end user and specification requirements, for practically every application.
Constructed from fully certified and tested high performance interlocking laths constructions, in conjunction with model specific bottom rails, the Ascot range are ideal to provide passive fire protection.
Steel lath curtains run in vertical guides, which are braced back to the building structure via Guide support angles. Hung from high level tube barrels and rotating on high quality bearings, Fire Shutters are designed specifically for action in ‘fire conditions’. On activation of fire alarm, or detection of excessive localised heat, open shutters are designed to descend to the closed position providing well sealed fire partitioning, preventing the spread of flame and reducing heat transfer.
Our range of Fire Rated Roller Shutters are designed to comply with the requirements of BS EN 16034 and are tested to BS EN 1634-1 2014+A1:2018, by Warringtonfire (part of the Element Materials Technology group). Reports for single skin and insulated models are available on request, providing approval for up to four hours fire protection.
Fire Shutter Options
A wide range of options are available to tailor the operation and finish to each opening and location – from polyester powder coating finishes, to a variety of powered drive operations to suit 1ph and 3ph power supplies.
Fire Regulation Compliance
To comply with fire regulations, it is a mandatory requirement that where local heat source exceeds 68°C, open Shutters descend to the closed position. Fusible link devices, which are mounted on the drive unit, can be supplied to release the motor brake. The release of the motor brake allows a fully or partially open shutter to descend fully under gravity.
Solenoid release devices are incorporated, which are designed to be linked into the fire alarm system via a 24 volt DC supply – 0.5 amp. On receipt of an incoming fire alarm signal, the open Shutter will close under controlled descent.
Where Fire Alarm systems utilise volt-free signals, an Audio Visual Warning panel will be required to interface.
Audio Visual warning panels can be supplied as an option, which are activated when the panel receives a fire alarm signal (volt free). The unit includes a facility for a delayed closing of the Shutter after audible and visual warning. On activation from the fire alarm, the panel flashes and omits an audible warning before the shutter closes after a pre-determined delay of between 10 second and 10 minutes – programmable by the installer.
