Glazed Sectional Overhead Doors

Ascot’s Glazed Sectional Overhead Door portfolio offers Architects, Specifiers and End Users a vast range of options to maximise their large, industrial entrances and exit points to improve natural light, product visibility and safety critical lines of sight.

Sections, of variable heights are constructed from stable, twist-resistant extruded aluminium frames. Most commonly arranged in a grid type arrangement, the individual fields are formed by screwing short vertical uprights between horizontal profiles, placed across the width of the door. Hardened acrylic infills are used to provide a glazed effect.

Glazed sectional overhead doors, much like traditional insulated panel models, are balanced by an industrial spring package. Manual, hand chain and electrically powered operation are all available as options.

Glazed Frame Arrangement

All the infill fields of a door leaf are identical in size – vision sections are all of a uniform width and height.

Top and bottom sections, as the points most exposed to physical touchpoints on the interior and exterior faces, are often provided as insulated, solid sectional door panels. Bottom panel depth must match the overall depth of the aluminium frame of the Glazed sections above.

Bottom Section

Supplied as standard with tight sealing EPDM bottom weather seal to the leading edge, achieving excellent protection against the elements.

Whilst a fully glazed bottom section to the door leaf is perfectly feasible, external doors opening on to tarmac, concrete or stone yards must be assessed for wear and tear risk. Where chippings, small stones or any other potential “missile” may be generated by your normal operation, a solid insulated panel may be preferable to acrylic, as scratch marks are less obvious during lifecycle.

For retail and commercial applications, the option to finish acrylic panes with scratch resistant neutral coatings can be offered upon request.

Hardened Acrylic Infills

The glazing elements consist of two transparent acrylic panes, combined with an airtight seal to form a double glazed construction.

As standard the cross section through the glazing is:
2.5mm – 14 mm – 2.5mm

For high end applications, a premium range of tinted and/or coloured acrylic panes can be offered for consideration – for further information on specialist glazing options contact the Ascot sales office.
